Radio Frequency Identification

With Wal-Mart, the US Department of Defense and other large organizations putting their collective endorsement on the benefits of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), their suppliers are challenged to find cost effective ways to comply with and adopt RFID.

Many companies have asked suppliers to begin using RFID (radio frequency identification) tags by 2006. RFID allows pallets and products to be scanned at a greater distance and with less effort than barcode scanning, offering superior supply-chain management efficiencies.

With so much information and so many steps involved in implementing an RFID solution, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Making an intelligent choice between all the different tags, readers, printers, middleware, software and vendors that claim to offer a solution while maintaining EPC Compliance can be a challenge for any organization. RFID or Radio Frequency Identification is fast becoming required business because large retailers like Walmart require these tags.
