Collection Agencies

Some collection firms get their revenues from the commissions based on the total debt recovered. Other collection agencies buy the debt from a creditor at a discount and then attempt to hunt down and collect the entire face value of the debt.

It is a labor intensive business but the rewards can be high in terms of collecting money that would otherwise be lost. Debt collection agencies exist to help businesses (creditors) collect money owed to them from individuals or other businesses (debtors). Debt collection agencies take assignments of debt collection for both individual and corporate debt collection.

Collection agencies keep track of accounts that are overdue and attempt to collect payment on them. Some debt collectors are employed by third-party collection agencies, while others known as in-house collectors work directly for the original creditors The duties of bill and account collectors are similar in the many different organizations in which they are employed. Collectors use computers and a variety of automated systems to keep track of overdue accounts. Collection agencies make high volume phone calls to the various debtors they have tracked down.
