In a sense, homeschooling happens for all children living at home. The home is an important classroom and homeschoolers believe it is the best classroom.
Homeschooling can mean different things to different people. Homeschooling can involves fully duplicating school at home, complete with textbooks, activities, lessons and regularly scheduled field trips. Or, homeschooling can simply represent the process of learning at home for the child and for the adult(s).
Homeschooling parents choose to educate their children outside of the traditional setting for a variety of reasons: academic goals, religious beliefs, social philosophy, personal needs and any number of issues.
